Infection Control FAQ's

Q: How does COVID-19 spread?

A: COVID-19 spreads through respiratory droplets generated by coughing, sneezing, or talking and by coming into contact with the virus on contaminated surfaces and then touching the eyes, mouth, or nose mucosa.

Q: What can I do to protect myself from getting exposed to viral infection while participating in physical therapy?

A: There are several things that you can do to protect yourself from being exposed to a virus and also to protect others if you are an asymptomatic carrier.

  1. Wear a face mask during treatment procedures during which you are unable to maintain appropriate social distancing from your practitioner or other patients.
  2. Wash your hands on entering the facility to prevent bringing contagion into the facility via your hands
  3. Wash your hands before exiting the facility to prevent taking any exposure in the facility back to your car/home environment
  4. Avoid touching your face without having washed your hands first
  5. Cover your mouth and nose with your arm or tissue when sneezing or coughing, and wash your hands or use hand sanitizer afterwards
  6. PLEASE STAY HOME IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING ANY SYMPTOMS OF ILLNESS. Our office staff will be happy to help you reschedule your appointment, and no fees will be charged.

Q: What are the staff / practitioners at Evolution Sports PT doing to protect against viral spread?

A: The staff and facility at Evolution Sports PT has always and will continue to practice “standard precautions” when treating our patients. These include: regular hand hygiene before and after treating each patient, proper respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette, properly disinfecting equipment and surfaces between patient use, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.

In addition to “Standard Precautions” we are also following appropriate “Contact Precautions” and “Droplet Precautions” during this pandemic. These additional precautions include: Use of private treatment rooms as often as is appropriate for treatment, maintaining social distancing while in the gym area to the best of our ability, wearing face masks for all procedures in which social distancing is not possible, increasing the frequency with which we are disinfecting public surfaces not used in treatment.

Furthermore are staff are always willing to discuss additional questions or personal preferences for your treatment to help you have a comfortable experience.
