TREATMENT SESSIONS

TREATMENT FAQS

What do I need to bring for my first visit?

For your first visit please bring your insurance card, a valid form of ID, any prescriptions or referrals from your doctor for physical therapy (if needed by your insurance), and any paperwork with results from X-rays, MRI’s, or other relevant studies related to what you will be seen for.

How should I dress for physical therapy?

Please come dressed with clothing that will allow easy skin to skin access for treatment of whichever body part we are treating. If your plan of care includes exercise interventions, please make sure that you are dressed to allow for this as well.

What should I expect at my first visit?

On your first visit your therapist will perform an Evaluation to determine what functional limitations and impairments your pain is causing in order to create the most effective treatment plan. In addition to discussing treatment options, your therapist will also begin treatment that day. Most Evaluations take 45 to 60 minutes to complete.

What should I expect for my follow-up visits?

Follow-up visits typically last 45 to 60 minutes. You and your therapist will discuss the effects of your last treatment and then determine how best to proceed with your treatment plan that day. Depending on the nature of your pain/injury/surgery your visit may consist of “hands-on” manual interventions, dry needling, and specific exercise.

What should I expect after receiving dry needling as treatment?

After a session of dry needling you may experience some muscle type soreness that will last 24 hours on average, but usually no more than 48. Dry needling is not meant to increase your symptomatic pain. Depending on the type of dry needling performed, you may experience RELIEF of your symptoms immediately or within 24 to 48 hrs.

What should I expect after receiving fascial manipulation as treatment?

Fascial manipulation uses a local inflammatory process to generate heat to release restrictions in the layers of deep connective tissue. Treatment soreness will peak at 12hrs from treatment and will typically resolve within 24 hours. The best modalities to relieve treatment soreness are heat and stretching. You should try to avoid ice and anti-inflammatory medication (unless needed for other medical conditions as prescribed by your doctor). After full resolution of symptoms you will also be able to see the full effect of the treatment at pain reduction and increased range of motion.

What should I expect after receiving cupping as treatment?

Cupping increases circulation to the surface of the the tissues being treated and may result in some superficial bruising directly under where the cup was placed. Typically tenderness is minimal. There may be some itchiness the day of treatment from the increase in circulation. Decreased pain and/or increased range of motion from treatment usually happens immediately after treatment is applied.
